Pergolas & Palapas.Shade, engineered.
Pergolas and palapas — from crisp modern steel to hand-tied traditional palm, built to last on the coast.
A palapa built by hands that learned from their grandfathers. A steel-and-hardwood pergola with concealed lighting. Shade is where Mexican tradition and modern engineering meet.

Hardwood pergolas and traditional palapa roofs, engineered for hurricane season and built to last.
01Choose the structure
Pergola for filtered light and a modern line, palapa for deep shade and the local craft. We will tell you which suits your terrace and your budget.
02Engineer and permit
Fixings, footings and wind loading calculated, then permits and HOA approval filed. Hurricane season is a design input here, not a disclaimer.
03Built by hand
Hardwood framing cut and joined on site; palapa roofs thatched by craftsmen who have done it their whole lives, in the traditional way.
04Finished and serviced
Sealed, lit if you want it lit, and handed over with a maintenance interval so the roof reaches the end of its life, not half of it.
Questions, answered.
How long does a palapa roof last?
A properly built palapa by master palaperos lasts 8–15 years with minimal care — and it’s the best natural insulation you can put over a terrace. We also build hybrid structures with modern frames and natural roofs.
Are your structures hurricane-rated?
Yes. Every pergola and palapa we build is engineered and anchored for storm season — that’s non-negotiable in the Riviera Maya.
Pergola or palapa — which should I choose?
Pergolas read modern and take integrated lighting beautifully; palapas run cooler and feel unmistakably Mexican. Many of our best projects combine both.
Do I need a permit?
Often, yes — it depends on the municipality, the building and whether the structure is fixed. We handle the permit process and the HOA approval as part of the build, and we don’t start until it is in hand.
